The 2nd Vice-president of Nigerian Bar Association, NBA Monday Ubani has been honored with the prestigious humanitarian service award.

Ubani was conferred with the award in Abuja recently by the ECOWAS Youth Parliament (EYP).

Ubani who is also the founder of Onyekachi Ubani Foundation, OUF, surpassed other nominees from Liberia, Ghana and Cape Verde to clinch the award.

He was commended for promoting African Image, exemplary leadership, fairness and his tremendous contributions to humanity through his foundation.

Presenting the award, Speaker of ECOWAS Youth Parliament, Rt. Hon Mensah Fred noted that Ubani was honoured with the award for his national recognition, his selfless service towards empowering the less privileged, his good leadership qualities, integrity and transparent style of leadership.

Mensah said, “When others are standing, you are outstanding, we are so much happy about your disciplined personality towards making the youths and Nigerian communities better for good”.

“I have conducted research and inquiries but was unable to read anything negative about you. In our last conference some of the Youth leaders from Nigeria nominated you to be decorated with the EYP Honour, when we were deliberating on who to award this year, and to the glory of God we made a reasonable and outstanding selection. It is wonderful that this award will be presented to you”, Mensah noted.

Responding, Ubani thanked the leadership and members of EYP for finding him worthy to received such prestigious award.

He noted the EYP award and many others he has received from other notable organizations in the past will inspire him to do more for the society.

” I am truly honored to receive this award from your organization. This shows that the youths in Africa are mindful of the little effort we in OUF are doing to make the society a better place for all. This award is truly an encouragement to do more and I thank you for this”, he said.

Other distinguished persons that have received the EYP award in the past includes, The President of the African Public Relations Association (APRA) Mr. Yomi Badejo-Okusanya; Ogun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Adedayo Adeneye; Director of the Centre for International Education, University of Ilorin, Prof. O. M. Ibrahim amongst others.
